FAQ and Store Policy

Welcome to the Ottsville Record Garage. ORG is a small mom & pop, online business located in Bucks County, PA. It’s literally run out of my garage. If this is your first time shopping with us, please take a moment to read this information so that you know what to expect when shopping with Ottsville Record Garage.

If this is not your first time shopping with Ottsville Record Garage, welcome back!

Ottsville Record Garage focuses mainly on Used Vinyl. So if that is what you are here for, you’ll find a nice selection. We try to list records everyday. So if you don’t see something today that you like, you might find something tomorrow. Make sure you check back often! If you have questions about condition, pressing verification, would like pictures of the sleeve or regarding available titles, click on the Contact section of the home page and leave a message or email us at info@ottsvillerecordgarage.com

Are you looking to purchase New Records? As in new releases and repressings, direct from the distributor that are factory sealed? We may be able to assist you.  Here’s some things you should know.

  1. We carry a limited number of New Records in stock but tend to add to our on hand inventory every month.
  2. We DO NOT take pre-orders on new releases and repressings, but we do try to stock some as they are released.
  3. Since we only carry a limited number of New Records in house, you will see that we have a lot of New Records listed as Sold Out. This is also the case with upcoming releases that have not reached the release date since we do not take pre-orders.
  4. If an item is listed as Sold Out - it may be available through our distributor. We just don’t have it in the Garage at this time. If you are interested in purchasing a Sold Out title from us, here is what you should do:
    1. On the listing you will see a red box that says “Notify Me When Available.” Click on that.
    2. Fill out the form that appears with your email address and any other information you want us to know.

We will see that you are interested in purchasing this title. We will then try to source it from one of our distributors and get it in stock. Once that happens, you will receive an email from us letting you know that we have it in the Garage.

You will be among the first people who know that we have it in stock. However, that does not guarantee that item is put aside for you. If someone else is on the site and purchases that item, then so be it.  We do not hold stock, but also will not take your money without being able to fulfill your order.

This is the best we can do to accommodate items we do not have on hand.  If this doesn’t work for you, there are some great websites out there that are much bigger than ours that can accommodate your needs. We hope you’ll shop with us, but we understand if you do not agree with our terms.

FAQ & Store Policies:

Q: I see a lot of stuff listed as SOLD OUT.  Don’t you have anything on hand?

A: See Above. Also, if you want to only see In Stock items, click on our Catalog then switch the availability in the top left corner to In Stock and you’ll only see titles that are currently in the Garage.

Q: Do you take Pre-orders on new and upcoming releases?

A: No. But you can click to be notified when an item comes in stock (see above). If you do this, we will order at least 1 copy from our distributor.

Q: How do you grade the Used Records you sell?

A: We use the same standards and guidelines as you will find on Discogs. As a general rule, we grade our items conservatively.  If something has been graded visually and not actually played, the description will state that the record is “Visually Graded.” Visually Graded records are generally done for records of lower resale value ($5 and less) or something we just have no interest in listening to, like a 6 LP Opera Box Set. Most sellers of Used Records visually grade them. Whether or not they tell you is a different story.

Q: How quickly do you ship?

A: Since the only thing you can purchase is In Stock items, orders generally ship within 1-2 business days.

Q: What shipping methods are available?

A: We offer USPS Media Mail and Priority Mail as well as domestic UPS services. These can be selected at checkout.

Q: Do you offer local pick up?

A: If you live in, nearby or plan on visiting Bucks County, PA, local pick-up can be arranged. Select that option at checkout and someone will contact you to make arrangements for pick up. You cannot simply show up to pick up your order. Previous arrangements must be made with Ottsville Record Garage.

Q: Do you ship Internationally?

A: No. At this time, we only ship within the United States and surrounding territories. International shipping (even to Canada) is costly and slow. Until we can find a better shipping solution for international shipments, we will only ship within the US.

Q: I live in Canada but have a PO Box just over the border. Will you ship to that PO Box located in the US?

A: Yes.  But we can only ship via USPS when shipping to a PO Box. UPS does not deliver to a PO Box.

Q: Do you drop ship?

A: Don’t want your significant other to know that you bought more records? I get it. Just fill out the shipping address at checkout and we’ll ship it there as long as it is within our shipping guidelines (No International Shipping).

Q: I bought a gift for someone and I don’t want you to include the receipt when you ship it to them. Is that possible?

A: Yes.  Just let us know and we’ll accommodate your request.

Q: Do you offer free shipping?

A: Yes. Orders of $69.99 and above will receive free Media Mail shipping via USPS.

Q: What is your return policy?

A: You have 30 days from arrival to initiate a return on most items for a full refund. 31-60 days from arrival is store credit only. After 60 days, returns will not be accepted. Random Records are non-returnable and non-refundable.  Refunds and credits will only be issued after the item has been successfully received at Ottsville Record Garage.

Q: Can I cancel my order once I’ve completed my purchase?

A: Yes. As long as your order hasn’t been processed for shipping (you received a tracking number). If it has been processed for shipping you will have to go through the normal return process once it arrives. We try to ship within 1-2 business days from the time you complete your purchase.

Q: Will you pay for a return label?

A: Maybe? Maybe Not? It depends on the situation. If you just decide that you don’t want what you purchased, no. We’ll allow you to return it within our guidelines, but we’re not paying for return shipping. If we shipped you the wrong thing? Yes, we will give you a return label. If your item was damaged in shipping or some other issue?  It depends on the situation and what it is, but probably. Either way we can work something out with you.

Q: Can I visit the Ottsville Record Garage?

A: At this time, no. We are not a brick and mortar retail location. However, if you follow us on Social Media, we have some events and pop-up record stores planned for throughout the year where you can shop records in person.

Q: What payment methods do you accept?

A: All major credit cards and PayPal.

Q: When do you take payments?

A: At the time you complete your order you will pay for the goods you selected. Orders ship within 1-2 business days. Since the items you are purchasing are in stock and we do not accept pre-orders, payment is taken at the time you complete your purchase, similar to what would occur on Discogs.

Q: What if your inventory is wrong?

A: If we have something incorrectly listed as in stock and you purchased it, you will receive a full refund on any items that cannot ship.

Q: How can I contact you?

A: Either click on the Contact button on our home page or email info@ottsvillerecordgarage.com

Q: Can I call you?

A: No. Just email us. No one wants to actually talk on the phone anymore.

Q: Do you offer discounts?

A: Yes. But you’ll have to sign up on our mailing list to be notified of promo codes and sales that we are running.

Q: Will you price match?

A: No.  If you can find something at a better price, then you should probably buy it. We’re a small business and try to keep our prices competitive. But we’re not going to try to keep up with larger businesses who can probably out price us due to discounts they receive or alternate revenue sources which we do not have.
