Formed in Seattle in 1988, Medusa quickly carved their place in the city's bustling metal scene. With Litsa Olsson delivering soaring and powerful vocals, the band stood out in a scene dominated by male-fronted acts, playing countless gigs and opening for national touring bands. The story began when Swedish-born guitarist Stefan Olsson met Carl Cooper in high school, both wielding identical Gibson SG guitars. Years later, Stefan crossed paths with Litsa, whose influences ranged from Ann Wilson and Doro to Dio and Bruce Dickinson. Joined by Litsa's brother Billy on guitar, Tim Mejdrich on drums, and Carl stepping in on bass, the lineup was complete and Medusa was born. The name came naturally, reflecting both their mythological vision and their identity as a female-fronted band. By early 1990, Medusa had written a full set of originals and entered the studio to record Dare To Rock. Released only on cassette at the time, the record became a cult piece of female-fronted US Metal history, long sought after by cassette tape collectors. Later sessions in 1994 with bassist Ronnie Dalesio added even more fire to their legacy, tracks that are finally included here as bonus material. This first-ever official vinyl edition resurrects the album in all it's glory. Featuring fully remastered audio for the ultimate sonic punch, bonus tracks from the rare 1994 sessions, extensive liner notes and band history, rare photos and complete lyrics, this edition is a true treasure for collectors. For fans of CHASTAIN, HELLION and TAIST OF IRON, this is female-fronted heavy metal at it's purest and a long-overdue tribute to one of Seattle's hidden gems.
